Add-on: Text Field Variables

Text Field Variables is a Gravity Forms add-on that lets you use your own variables, such as **customer_name**, in Single Line Text and Paragraph Text fields. You define the values per form and decide when they are replaced: with a shortcode, a merge tag modifier or a Gravity Flow step. Use it for template texts such as letters, quotes or contracts.

What you can do with Text Field Variables

  • Add variables per form in Form Settings → Text Field Variables, with static text or a merge tag as value.
  • Choose which fields process variables with Allow Variables in the field settings.
  • Show the text with the variables replaced using the replace_gwp_text_field_variables shortcode.
  • Replace the variables in notifications and confirmations with the :replace_gwp_text_field_variables merge tag modifier.
  • Replace the variables during a workflow with the Replace Variables Gravity Flow step.
  • Export the variables of a form and import them into another form.

Where to start

Text Field Variables for Gravity Forms explains the setup and all three ways to replace variables, with examples.

Requirements

  • Gravity Forms
  • Optional: Gravity Flow, for the Replace Variables workflow step

More about the add-on is on the Text Field Variables product page.
