Add-on: Personal Edit Link

Personal Edit Link is a Gravity Forms add-on that reopens an existing entry for editing on the front end through a secure personal link. The form opens with the saved answers, and submitting it updates the original entry instead of creating a new one. Use it when submitters need to correct or complete their own entries, with or without Gravity Flow.

  • Create a personal edit link from the entry detail page, for selected entries with a bulk action, or automatically after each new submission.
  • Send the link with Gravity Forms notifications, using the {gwp_reopen_link} or {gwp_reopen_token} merge tag.
  • Decide how long a link works, how often it can be used and whether the user must also be logged in.
  • Lock fields with Not editable in Personal Edit Link, and choose whether users can add, replace or remove uploaded files.
  • Rerun add-on feeds after an edit and keep an audit history of every change.
  • Reopen entries from a Gravity Flow workflow with the Reopen Entry for Editing and Reopen Entry by Entry ID steps.

Where to start

  1. Set Up Personal Edit Link: enable it on a form and add the edit page.
  2. Create and Send Personal Edit Links: create links and email them.
  3. Personal Edit Link Form Settings: every setting explained.

Then read How Users Edit an Entry to see what the submitter gets, and the Gravity Flow pages if you work with workflows.

Requirements

  • Gravity Forms 2.9 or later
  • WordPress 6.0 or later
  • PHP 7.4 or later
  • MySQL or MariaDB with named locks; see Set Up Personal Edit Link
  • Optional: Gravity Flow, for the workflow steps

Features, pricing and screenshots are on the Personal Edit Link product page.

Audit History and Data Retention

Personal Edit Link logs every edit with the changed fields, old and new values and upload changes, and cleans up old tokens and audit rows on a schedule you set.

Create and Send Personal Edit Links

Create personal edit links from the entry detail page, with a bulk action or after each submission, and send them with Gravity Forms notifications and merge tags.

Gravity Flow: Reopen Entry by Entry ID Step

The Reopen Entry by Entry ID step lets a Gravity Flow workflow of one form reopen an entry of another form for editing, and route both workflows after the edit.

Gravity Flow: Reopen Entry for Editing Step

The Reopen Entry for Editing step in Gravity Flow creates a personal edit link for the entry and can wait until the entry is edited or the link expires.
