Add-on: List Dropdown

List Dropdown is a Gravity Forms add-on that turns List Field columns into dropdown selects with your own choices. Use it when every row of a List Field must contain one answer from a fixed list, such as a product, a size or a country, instead of free text.

What List Dropdown does

• Makes one, some or all columns of a single-column or multi-column List Field a dropdown select. Each dropdown column has its own choices.
• Adds the choices one by one, or in bulk with Bulk Add / Predefined Choices: one choice per line (Label|Value) or a Gravity Forms predefined list such as countries, US states or months.
• Shows an optional Placeholder, such as “Select a size”, as the first, empty option.
• Saves a value that differs from the label people see when you turn on Show Values.
• Keeps the dropdowns in the Gravity Forms entry editor, in GravityView Edit Entry and when someone resumes a form with Save and Continue, with the saved choice selected.
• Lets developers set or change the choices of a column with the gravitywp_list_dropdown_choices filter.
• Optionally uses the enhanced (searchable) user interface. This interface is not accessible for screen reader users and people who cannot use a mouse.

Switch from Drop Down Options in List Fields for Gravity Forms

List Dropdown is the rewritten successor of the discontinued “Drop Down Options in List Fields for Gravity Forms” plugin. It reads the dropdown settings that plugin saved in your forms, including options saved as a comma-separated list, so your existing List Fields keep their dropdowns.

1. Deactivate Drop Down Options in List Fields for Gravity Forms.
2. Install and activate List Dropdown.
3. Open your forms with a dropdown List Field in the form editor and check the choices of the dropdown columns in the List Field settings.

The “Enable add options” setting of the old plugin, which let people type their own option, is not available. The dropdowns only show your choices. Values that people added in existing entries are kept: when you edit such an entry, the saved value is added to the dropdown as an option.

Translations

The texts of the add-on, such as its settings in the form editor and the texts of the enhanced user interface, can be translated with translation plugins like WPML. The text domain is gravitywp-list-dropdown, and a Dutch translation is included.

The choices of your dropdowns are not part of these translations. They are form content that you enter in the form editor, or return from the gravitywp_list_dropdown_choices filter.
