Premium Gravity Forms add-on

Dynamic Labels

Ask the right questions for every grant, course or vacancy

Dynamic Labels is a Gravity Forms add-on that fills field labels, field descriptions and HTML content of a form with values from an entry of another form. One application, evaluation or intake form then shows different questions for each grant, course, vacancy or client, and every entry keeps the questions the user answered.

A grants page links two grants to the same application form. The Sports Club Fund link opens the form with its introduction and three check questions; the Culture Fund link opens it with two other questions, the empty third one hidden, and the applicant fills them in.

For site owners and agencies who run many similar forms with Gravity Forms and want to maintain one form whose questions come from a list they manage as entries.

One form instead of dozens of copies

Keep one application, evaluation or intake form. The questions come from an entry of another form, so a new grant, course or vacancy needs a new entry, not a new form.

Questions are managed as data

Staff add and change questions in a simple Gravity Forms form. Nobody has to open the form editor to update next year’s check questions.

Every answer keeps its question

Each entry remembers which source entry it was filled in for. The entry screen, notifications and GravityView show the questions the user actually saw.

Use cases

  • Show grant-specific check questions in one grant application form, managed as one entry per grant.
  • Ask screening questions per vacancy in one job application form.
  • Name the course, trainer and date in the questions of a course evaluation.
  • Ask follow-up questions about the service someone booked, with the booking details in the labels.
  • Use one intake form for several clients, each with its own questions and explanations.
  • Show product-specific checklist items in an inspection or audit report.

Features

  • Labels, descriptions and HTML content

Map a Single Line Text or Paragraph Text field of the source form to the label or description of a field, or to the content of an HTML field, in the form people fill in.

  • Encrypted links per source entry

Add {entry_id:dynamic_label_param} to a confirmation, notification or GravityView link. It becomes an encrypted value in the dynamic_label URL parameter, so visitors cannot change it to load another entry. Gravity Flow can also set the source entry directly, without a link.

  • Match on entry ID or a unique value

Choose Entry ID Field to load the source entry from the link, or Unique Value Matching to search the source form for a value such as a grant code, using the :dynamic_label_param modifier on a field merge tag.

  • Hide questions without a value

With Empty Field Behavior set to Hidden or Administrative, a mapped field disappears when its source value is empty. Five check questions on one grant and three on another need no conditional logic.

  • The right labels on entries, in emails and in GravityView

The entry detail page, {all_fields} in notifications and GravityView views show the labels from the source entry. The entry also shows which source entry it belongs to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to write code?

No. You choose the source form, the matching method and the field mappings in the form settings, and create the link with a merge tag.

Which fields can get a dynamic label?

Labels and descriptions of text, number, paragraph, email, hidden, phone, name, date, time, choice and list fields, and the content of HTML fields. Developers can add field types with a filter.

Can visitors change the link to see another entry?

No. The value in the link is encrypted with Gravity Forms encryption, and the source entry must belong to the source form you selected.

What happens when my license expires?

Everything you installed keeps working. You no longer get downloads, updates, new features and support until you renew.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 30 days of your first purchase. Request it through your account on my.gravitywp.com. Renewals are not refunded; see the refund policy.
